Hey Rileyxo85, any update on your BCV bypass? A few moments later I started it and took off, within minutes it began stalling again. is the BCV bypass easy to access? else With practice the engine can be removed in less than 15 minutes. When working on I failed to clean out the bowl / starting jet and passage, and the main jet -- BOTH were clogged. I stumbled on a VERY clean looking 1983 Yamaha 180 Riva for sale in a mechanics shop, 1800 miles.
By restricting the air being introduced into the combustion chamber, I am essentially enriching the fuel/air mixture. else Update: the $25 tw200 carb arrived today.
Carburetor is a pain. Re-attaching the air box to the carb was a bear and I finally had to fashion a very short rubber adapter, held in place by hose clamps, to get it to work.
Did not notice anything abnormal with the drivetrain.

Fine tuning will begin tomorrow along with pictures. Make sure you get all those hoses back on were the belong - and that they don't leak. Because it's so tiny, it can clog easily. href=mylink; Great off the line and extremely strong throughout the midrange and top end. Anyway, now it starts and idles fine, but sputters/stalls out whenever the slightest bit of throttle is applied.

My battery is pretty new. Starting jet In my experience, this tiny little part is one of the main causes of Riva 180 starting problems. Sometimes it just cranks and cranks and the battery dies. I was pretty sure that it was closed (or slightly open) on start and open after it warms up but its been over a year since i did this on my scooter, so I may have written it down backwards back then....and I really do not know for sure since I put mine back to stock because the BCV wasn't my starting problem (Bad float level was my problem). by donny » Tue Jul 24, 2012 9:12 pm, Post if (!

Hey guys. href=mylink.href; i feel pretty comfortable doing it. I know this bike has a reputation for starting problems. I'm having same issue: starts and idles well, but when I apply throttle, it bogs down and stalls. New here.
